Iguazu Falls opening hours: Brazilian and Argentine sides

Both parks open every day of the year. On the Brazilian side you go in at the time on your ticket, from 9:00 to 16:00 on weekdays and from 8:30 to 16:00 at weekends, and once inside you can stay until 17:30. On the Argentine side the Falls Area opens from 8:00 to 18:00, holidays and rainy days included; the last entry is at 16:00 and the last train to the Devil's Throat leaves at 15:30. Arrive at opening time: the classic visit on the Brazilian side takes about two hours, and the Argentine park recommends coming early to make the most of the day.

In short

  • Brazil: entry 9:00–16:00 on weekdays and 8:30–16:00 at weekends; stay until 17:30
  • Argentina: open 8:00–18:00 every day; last entry 16:00
  • Last train to the Devil's Throat: 15:30
  • Both parks open every day of the year, also when it rains

Opening hours of both parks

Each side of the falls is a separate national park with its own hours and its own ticket. The table shows when you can go in, when each park closes and, on the Argentine side, the train that takes you to the Devil's Throat.

If you are still deciding which side to visit, or whether to see both, start with Brazil or Argentina side.

Brazilian side: your ticket sets the entry time

The Brazilian ticket is for a day and an entry time. The park reserves the time you go in, not the time you leave: once inside, you can stay until it closes at 17:30. When you book with us, you pick the day and your preferred entry time within the park's hours.

  • The ticket includes the park buses, there and back, from the visitor centre to the Falls Trail
  • The Falls Trail itself is about one kilometre on foot
  • The classic visit takes about two hours, so a morning entry leaves the afternoon free

What you will see, stop by stop, is in the Falls Trail guide.

Argentine side: last entry and the train

The Falls Area opens every day from 8:00 to 18:00, including holidays and rainy days, and the last entry is at 16:00. Each ticket is for the day and the time you choose.

The Rainforest Ecological Train is included in the entry and runs from Central Station to Devil's Throat Station. The first departure is at 8:20, the last one towards the Devil's Throat at 15:30, and the last return at 17:30.

If the Devil's Throat is your must-see, do not leave it for late afternoon: the last train towards it leaves well before the park closes. See the Devil's Throat guide.

What time to arrive

  • Brazil: reach the visitor centre before your entry time; the time on your ticket is when you go in
  • Argentina: come at opening time, as the park itself recommends, and ride the train early
  • Visiting both sides: one day per park is the comfortable plan; the first-time guide explains the order
  • The parks stay open in the rain, but either park can close the Devil's Throat walkways when the river runs high

How to reach each park, and the bus to the Brazilian visitor centre, is in how to get to Iguazu Falls.

Book your day and entry time

Both parks sell tickets for a specific day and time. Pick the side, the day and the time, and pay once in dollars; our team issues the park tickets in your name. The table compares the three tickets.
