There is one classic boat ride on each side. On the Brazilian side, Macuco Safari combines an electric vehicle through the forest, a short guided trail and a boat ride up to the falls. On the Argentine side, La Gran Aventura combines an open vehicle along the Yacaratiá trail with a boat up the rapids and under the falls. Both take about two hours, both run inside the national park and neither includes the park entry, so you need that side's ticket for the same day. Expect to get wet. Macuco has no minimum age; La Gran Aventura is not for children under twelve, pregnant women or people with certain disabilities.
In short

- The park entry is separate: book the ride for a day you visit that side

- Families with young children: Macuco has no minimum age; La Gran Aventura starts at twelve

Which one to choose
- Travelling with children under twelve, or someone who cannot ride La Gran Aventura: Macuco Safari
- Visiting only one side: take that side's ride, on the same day as your entry
- Visiting both sides: either ride works; pick by the restrictions above and by the day that leaves you more time
- The Argentine operator recommends morning departures, which also leave time to dry off and walk the trails afterwards
If you have not decided which side to visit, start with Brazil or Argentina side; for how many days you need, see first time at Iguazu Falls.
How wet you get and what to bring
- Light clothes or swimwear, and sandals or shoes that can get wet
- A small backpack with a change of clothes and a towel
- Sunscreen and insect repellent
- Rain ponchos are not included; in Argentina they are sold in the park shops
- Your passport or ID: you need it for the park entry, and La Gran Aventura checks it when boarding
For the rest of the park rules, such as what you can carry on the trails, see Iguazu Falls park rules.
